DEEP SEA FISHING CHARTERS
What to expect on your next trip on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.
At Another Keeper Charters the term "deep sea" or "offshore" generally refers to trips out into the Gulf of at least twenty five to thirty miles and to one hundred miles from shore. Trips of a shorter distance from shore can be found on the Nearshore Trips page.
It is often said in fishing that "you never know what is going to be on the other end of the line." Nowhere does that ring more true than the Eastern Gulf of Mexico between Fort Myers Beach and Sarasota to the West of Englewood and Venice, Florida. These warm, shallow waters offer some of the best grouper, snapper, Amberjack, and shark fishing anywhere in Florida and are often considered some of the most fertile waters on earth. But the fun doesn't stop there!
Safety has always been paramount at Another Keeper, and Redemption Song is no exception. She is equipped with two USCG self inflating life rafts, EPIRB, VHF and Single Sideband radios, as well as a satellite tracking/e-mail/and distress system that is monitored 24 hours a day! She also carries National Marine Fisheries Service federal permits for both commercial and charter fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic. With a typical cruising speed around 30 MPH, you will get to the grounds safe, comfortably, and quickly.
There is a lot more than just good ole' bottom fishing in the gulf. High speed vertical jigging, light tackle free-lining, throwing topwater plugs and soft plastics, kite fishing, and even trolling live and artificial baits for bluewater species. The fisheries of the offshore waters of the Gulf are as diverse as the fishermen who choose to come to take advantage of them.
Captain Tom understands that just as each species fish has its requirements for food, water temperature, and habitat, so too does each fisherman have his or her requirements and goals for their fishing charter. He also believes that just as the skilled angler carefully tailors his techniques to fit his target species, the skilled captain should take this same care to carefully craft a charter plan that best fits the needs and desires of his customers. Captain Tom is also fortunate to be able to draw upon an extensive and diverse background fishing the waters of South Florida and successfully achieve goals for his clients that many captains are unable or unwilling to attempt. These are the reasons why you will find not one generic "deep sea charter" trip, but rather a varied offering of trip 'suggestions' to hopefully meet the needs of each and every angler. We call these suggestions because they are simply good ideas for trips that are very popular with our customers.
From family friendly action packed trips, educational learning experiences, and cooler filling meat hunting trips to heart stopping sportfishing, Bluewater adventures, extreme grocery shopping, and even Man-cation adventures (you know, four middle aged guys who leave their wives at home to go on an epic vacation...Man-Cay-Shun!) you will find many offerings unavailable anywhere else on the Gulf Coast, all tailored specifically to your needs.
Please feel free to make up your own trip based on these suggestions and drop a line to Captain Tom. He is always up for a changer of pace, or a good challenge! "Many of my most memorable days fishing began as an off the wall suggestion that a customer had been dreaming of for years, but never could find just the right combination of boat and captain to give it a shot. I don't think you will find a single one of them that will tell you they regret making those dreams realities!"
Captain Tom is working feverishly to make descriptions of these trips available online, but between fishing just about every day and new additions to the family-- it's what he likes to call "an ongoing process." Please check back frequently to get new ideas of what others are doing aboard Another Keeper Charters.
Regardless of which trip you choose, we take full advantage of every attribute of our vessel, the F/V Redemption Song, on each and every deep sea charter. From her superior speed (often cutting your travel time to the fishing grounds in half) to her spacious cockpit, oversized 125 gallon livewell, and superior handling and seakeeping abilities. You will never be caught out in the wind, rain, cold, or spray with her spacious pilot house, while the open bulkhead in the back keeps you from having that 'boxed in' feeling.
High speed vertical jigging is one of the most exciting and action packed styles of fishing to anywhere. This video shows just a small snap shot of the action on a trip in late December 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico. Amberjack, Grouper, Tuna, Wahoo, King Mackerel, Snapper, and more all fall prey to anglers wielding specially designed rods, reels, line, and jigs. This is a great light tackle, artificial lure fishery available year round that seldom disappoints.
